Changing Perceptions

Twenty-four days after my 50th birthday, I received a phonecall from “No Caller ID.” You know those calls, the ones we typically never answer? It was 9:16pm, and as the mother of two grown children, I didn’t want to miss an important call…just in case.
I won’t detail that call here because it was my catalyst to publish my memoir “The Night Yoda Phoned” nine months later, however, suffice it to say that this unknown caller (who told me his name was Sun from Tibet) proceeded to recount my life’s challenges and concerns during that eight minute conversation:
  • I was feeling like my life’s calling, public education, was coming to an end.
  • I was unsure that I was prepared to take the next step.
  • I couldn’t even define what that next step was!
  • Was I going to be financially secure?
  • How was I going to provide for my family? I carried the health insurance and earned the higher salary!
I had resigned from my educational administrative job the previous school year to return to teaching and my love for the ancient Japanese healing modality, Reiki. In previous years I had been successful incorporating elementary teaching with part-time work as a Reiki practitioner. Through a series of eye-opening experiences, I was led out of administration and back to teaching students and my healing work.
But as the school year progressed, I was feeling more and more alienated by the teaching profession and more and more drawn to the intuitive messages I was delivering to my clients.

And then I received the phonecall from the man I call “Yoda.”
He told me that I was a powerful healer and the world was waiting for me to step into this work.

In this past year I retired from my teaching position, stepped full-time into my Intuitive Reiki work, purchased a building and opened Beleno Spiritual Healing Center. I discovered many, many truths throughout this last year. Here are just a few:
  • We create our reality through the feelings connected to our thoughts.
  • Listening to your heart and having unwavering faith is essential in fulfilling your dreams.
  • Ditching all perceptions that don’t serve us is necessary in moving forward.
But the most important truth that I discovered is about Reiki:
  • Reiki can change your life.
That’s a pretty strong statement, I know! But here’s why I know that it is my truth:
My Reiki work can release subconscious beliefs. These subconscious beliefs are what are emotionally holding us back from fulfilling our deepest desires:
  • I’m not smart, pretty, self-confident… (fill in the blank) enough to make that happen.
  • Mainstream structures (medical, religious, educational, political) control us and we are powerless against them.
  • I’m not worthy to receive… (fill in the blank).
  • (Fill in the blank)…happens as we age. It’s inevitable.
  • And probably the most damaging of all: We are powerless to change our health and disease.
The human “race” needs to slow down and take a look at what we are creating, after all, we are creation. Every thought, feeling and word is embodied in energy and we need to consider the impact of each and every one of them. To do that takes time: time for self-reflection, time to breathe, time to connect with humanity and time to give and receive LOVE.
I know that Reiki can change your life because it has completely transformed mine; not simply because it has become my life’s work, but because of the release of my subconscious beliefs:
  • I no longer dwell in fear, anxiety or worry about the future because I know I can shift my reality in an instant by how I react to it.
  • I know that expressing love for everything on Earth, especially for my so-called enemies, can change the outcome of my reality (and theirs)!
  • Sending Reiki energy to people and situations makes me feel as if I am always “doing something” -contributing to the positive shift we all desire to see in the world.
  •  And most importantly, I am never, ever a victim. Nothing can happen to me that I have not allowed into my life: not crime, disease, loss or arguments. If I have let them into my life, then they are there for a reason and it’s up to me to figure out why and release them.
It’s my hope that you discover Reiki as well. If you are a Reiki practitioner, hold your practice to the highest standard possible. Allow yourself to fully believe that this energy modality works. Honor your gift of empowering humanity.

That being said, I’ve manifested a Reiki symbol which specifically releases these subconscious patterns of belief (with an amazing story to go along!). I use this symbol daily with my clients and have seen truly transformational shifts. I’m holding a special attunement for this symbol for any Reiki practitioner who desires to add a new dimension to their Reiki practice and is already attuned to at least  level 2.

Judgment Isn't Broken...

10/4/2016

"Don't judge me" is heard all around the world these days, and rightfully so!
  • Don't judge me for my piercings and tattoos...
  • Don't judge the color of my skin...
  • Don't judge my religious affiliation...
  • Don't judge my sexual orientation...
If you're like me, you probably agree. If everyone stopped judging, we'd have a perfect world!
But I'd like to propose a different perspective:

Judgment isn't broken.

According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of the word "judgment" is:
"The act or process of forming an opinion or making a decision after careful thought."

I argue that today, more than ever, we need to employ careful thought. We need to form opinions and not follow the rhetoric of the herd!
Judgment is what allows us to choose a favorite restaurant, charitable organization or medical professional. Forming an opinion means that we've weighed the options, considered both sides, and decided for ourselves what resonates with our soul.

It's not judgment that needs to be fixed. What's broken is TOLERANCE.

Tolerance is "the willingness to accept feelings, habits, or beliefs that are different from your own."

I'm not going to lie, being an opinionated Aries I struggle with tolerance at times, too...but the realization that I don't have to stop forming judgments but simply need to employ tolerance has literally changed my life...overnight.

We don't need to change our belief system after forming a judgment. We don't need to admonish ourselves over judgments.

We simply need to be tolerant of others who don't share our judgments. Without hostility, fear, anger or bias.

Learn to accept that not everyone shares your judgments.

THAT is the key to bringing peace to our world. Try it, just for today. Just for today, be willing to accept the feelings, habits, or beliefs that are different from your own. That doesn't mean you can't discuss and debate. It simply means respecting others despite your differing opinions and giving them space to BE.

Your world will become a better place for it. Trust me, I've seen the magic that tolerance carries!

Live in love,
Carrie

Meet Mary...

10/1/2016

Mary has wisdom for the ages for us all.

I met Mary as she was making the slow, cane-assisted, 8-10 block walk to church. She didn't know exactly where it was, or when the service began or how far she had to walk, or even if it was the Catholic church she was looking for. But she knew, that day, she needed to visit with God, and commented:

"There's only one God anyway, right?"

She told me that she had never been married and her four brothers were looking down at her from heaven wondering what she was still doing here. At 94, I believe she may have been asking the very same question!

I offered to find the church and drive her there. As we drove, she said prayers of thanks to the good Lord for leading her to me. Upon our arrival, we see a bridal party exiting the sanctuary.

"Oh look, there's a wedding going on," I said.
She replied, "That's ok! I'll wait in the back until it's over."
I smiled to myself.

I parked the car and scurried through the entrance and hallways, searching for an inconspicuous place to seat Mary.
A very helpful elderly sacristan directed me to the correct entrance and went with me to greet Mary.

As I assisted her up the stairs, she said, "You know, people really are good. There's a lot of bad ones, but really there are a lot more good ones."

That is my belief too, Mary.

The sacristan asked if she was Catholic and told her she had to wait an hour and a half until the service began.

Mary said, "That's OK! It'll give me time to pray."

"Are you planning to take communion?"

"Why, I don't know," Mary replied. "I had lunch."

The woman seated her in a front pew so communion could be delivered to her anyway.

I gave her a hug as I was leaving, stating that although I was not Catholic, I might be inclined to pay a visit to this beautiful church again.

"After all, there's only one God, right?"

Mary looked me in the eye and said,

"No, there are many, many Gods."
 Amen, Mary.

Right now, take a look in the mirror. Yes, indeed, there are many, many Gods. Each and every one of us.
What are you going to do each day to allow YOUR God to shine through?

Amen, my friends.
Live in love,
Carrie
