Twenty-four days after my 50th birthday, I received a phonecall from “No Caller ID.” You know those calls, the ones we typically never answer? It was 9:16pm, and as the mother of two grown children, I didn’t want to miss an important call…just in case.
I won’t detail that call here because it was my catalyst to publish my memoir “The Night Yoda Phoned” nine months later, however, suffice it to say that this unknown caller (who told me his name was Sun from Tibet) proceeded to recount my life’s challenges and concerns during that eight minute conversation:
But as the school year progressed, I was feeling more and more alienated by the teaching profession and more and more drawn to the intuitive messages I was delivering to my clients. And then I received the phonecall from the man I call “Yoda.” He told me that I was a powerful healer and the world was waiting for me to step into this work. In this past year I retired from my teaching position, stepped full-time into my Intuitive Reiki work, purchased a building and opened Beleno Spiritual Healing Center. I discovered many, many truths throughout this last year. Here are just a few:
My Reiki work can release subconscious beliefs. These subconscious beliefs are what are emotionally holding us back from fulfilling our deepest desires:
I know that Reiki can change your life because it has completely transformed mine; not simply because it has become my life’s work, but because of the release of my subconscious beliefs:
That being said, I’ve manifested a Reiki symbol which specifically releases these subconscious patterns of belief (with an amazing story to go along!). I use this symbol daily with my clients and have seen truly transformational shifts. I’m holding a special attunement for this symbol for any Reiki practitioner who desires to add a new dimension to their Reiki practice and is already attuned to at least level 2. "Don't judge me" is heard all around the world these days, and rightfully so!
But I'd like to propose a different perspective: Judgment isn't broken. According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of the word "judgment" is: "The act or process of forming an opinion or making a decision after careful thought." I argue that today, more than ever, we need to employ careful thought. We need to form opinions and not follow the rhetoric of the herd! Judgment is what allows us to choose a favorite restaurant, charitable organization or medical professional. Forming an opinion means that we've weighed the options, considered both sides, and decided for ourselves what resonates with our soul. It's not judgment that needs to be fixed. What's broken is TOLERANCE. Tolerance is "the willingness to accept feelings, habits, or beliefs that are different from your own." I'm not going to lie, being an opinionated Aries I struggle with tolerance at times, too...but the realization that I don't have to stop forming judgments but simply need to employ tolerance has literally changed my life...overnight. We don't need to change our belief system after forming a judgment. We don't need to admonish ourselves over judgments. We simply need to be tolerant of others who don't share our judgments. Without hostility, fear, anger or bias. Learn to accept that not everyone shares your judgments. THAT is the key to bringing peace to our world. Try it, just for today. Just for today, be willing to accept the feelings, habits, or beliefs that are different from your own. That doesn't mean you can't discuss and debate. It simply means respecting others despite your differing opinions and giving them space to BE. Your world will become a better place for it. Trust me, I've seen the magic that tolerance carries! I met Mary as she was making the slow, cane-assisted, 8-10 block walk to church. She didn't know exactly where it was, or when the service began or how far she had to walk, or even if it was the Catholic church she was looking for. But she knew, that day, she needed to visit with God, and commented: "There's only one God anyway, right?" She told me that she had never been married and her four brothers were looking down at her from heaven wondering what she was still doing here. At 94, I believe she may have been asking the very same question! I offered to find the church and drive her there. As we drove, she said prayers of thanks to the good Lord for leading her to me. Upon our arrival, we see a bridal party exiting the sanctuary. "Oh look, there's a wedding going on," I said. She replied, "That's ok! I'll wait in the back until it's over." I smiled to myself. I parked the car and scurried through the entrance and hallways, searching for an inconspicuous place to seat Mary. A very helpful elderly sacristan directed me to the correct entrance and went with me to greet Mary. As I assisted her up the stairs, she said, "You know, people really are good. There's a lot of bad ones, but really there are a lot more good ones." That is my belief too, Mary. The sacristan asked if she was Catholic and told her she had to wait an hour and a half until the service began. Mary said, "That's OK! It'll give me time to pray." "Are you planning to take communion?" "Why, I don't know," Mary replied. "I had lunch." The woman seated her in a front pew so communion could be delivered to her anyway. I gave her a hug as I was leaving, stating that although I was not Catholic, I might be inclined to pay a visit to this beautiful church again. "After all, there's only one God, right?" Mary looked me in the eye and said, "No, there are many, many Gods." Amen, Mary. Right now, take a look in the mirror. Yes, indeed, there are many, many Gods. Each and every one of us. What are you going to do each day to allow YOUR God to shine through? Amen, my friends. Live in love, Carrie |
