"Be A Man"...

What does that mean to you, exactly? "Be a man" or "Man up"? Get tough? Deal with it? Were you told this as a child, or worse, as an adult?

Men, this blog is for you.

The illusion is over. The rules in the "game of life" have been changed. There's no need to act tough, save the day, be stoic, or hide your feelings.

We need you. Women, children, pets, the world, needs you. We need you to act with integrity. We need you to be authentic. We need you to say what your heart wants and, most importantly, for you to act on what your heart wants.

When we ignore our hearts (ie: our soul's navigation) we create The Gap. The Gap between our true selves and our physical selves. And in The Gap is frustration, anger, impatience, self-loathing, fear, sadness. When we don't realize why we carry these feelings, we lash out and act out of integrity.

We escape: Alcohol, drugs, food, obsessive exercise, infidelity.

Please, notice the signs. Notice how you are feeling physically: Pain? Exhaustion? Anxiety? Insomnia? Illness?

Living in integrity means listening to your heart and following it, no matter what that looks like. The world doesn't need you to be tough or brave or stoic or "A Man."

The world needs you to be your authentic self.

Please contact me if you need help locating YOU.

Live in love,
Carrie

PS: If you are saying these words to your sons, please stop. I see the damage that they cause- so much damage that it's become my life's work...

I really agree with your sentiment. I dislike the phrase "Be a man" as well. It simply presents a man, to be someone who's supposed to be hard and have no emotions whatsoever. We should remove the biased thinking for both genders. Men can act softly, while women can act tough at the same time.

Thank you for your comments, and for reading! Yes, that is EXACTLY why I mentioned that the "illusion is over." The barriers must be broken down. The title "Be A Man" is in quotes to allude to just that, the false perceptions. Thank you for reaching out!
